Combining ‘on the ground’ studies of wet and saline desert landscapes, aerial and satellite imagery, plus the phenomena of fractals and the Overview Effect, I now see self-similarity everywhere.

The salty encrusted inland lake beds in parts of this continent bear remarkable resemblances to images of galactic material seen via high resolution satellite photography. 

And as a reminder of our place ‘down here’ we even see the trace of human interventions: a road, fenceline or pipeline.
