The exhibition is very fine: “GM@25%” is THE MASTERPIECE! Particularly beautiful! A gentle crash of green + pink, verticals to the right, open spaces in the centre: perfectly orchestrated. Barry Pearce, Art Gallery of New South Wales.
The GM series shows the stain process giving you a far more interesting ground, with the looseness of the verticals also working very well. Also the horizontal elements add to the complexity of the works. I think now the work has reached the next step in the extension to what all your works are about and for me are more exciting. Good on you! Sydney Ball
Chaffey's recent paintings explore the resonance of her country--with its stressed underground water-courses shuddering beneath the grainy drama of the surface--in a way that simultaneously resonates with the layers of the picture plane. It is like another form of perspective which is inherently luminous and animated. Robert Nelson |
